Alaska GIS Maps by Borough: The Parcel Viewer Each Uses
Which parcel map software each Alaska borough and census area uses (21 of 29 verified), how to search the common viewers, and a link to every official map.
Looking for Alaska borough GIS maps? Alaska has no counties. Its county equivalents are 19 organized boroughs and 11 census areas that the Census Bureau draws in the Unorganized Borough. Our directory lists 29 entries because it still keeps the former Valdez-Cordova Census Area, split into the Chugach and Copper River census areas in 2019, as one entry. Their official parcel maps do not all run on the same software. Knowing which viewer a borough or census area uses tells you what the search box expects and where the parcel details are.
Searching property records across Alaska is easier once you know which kind of map you are about to open. We checked the official viewer listed for each of the 29 Alaska entries in the Platbookmapper directory and tallied them by platform.

The most populous boroughs and census areas
The busiest offices are worth knowing first, since most searches land there.

Before you rely on what you find
Online parcel lines are drawn for tax mapping, not surveys, so they can sit a few feet off the real boundary. For anything legal, such as a fence, a sale or a dispute, use the recorded deed and a licensed surveyor. To check flood zones, soils or wetlands for a spot you found, open it on the Platbookmapper Land Map, which pulls FEMA, USDA and U.S. Fish & Wildlife layers.
