How to find a Guam property and its lot number free on the official Guam Property map, how Guam land is described, and where legal records are kept.

Guam keeps its land records at the territorial level, and the government publishes a free, territory-wide property map. Whether you're stationed on Guam, have family land there or are looking at buying, this guide explains how to use the map, how Guam land is described and where to go for the legal records.

The official map

The Guam Property map is published by the Bureau of Statistics and Plans (BSP) on the Government of Guam's ArcGIS site. It shows property parcels across the island along with administrative boundaries and development constraints.

  4. Turn layers on and off in the layer list. Administrative boundaries show municipalities; development constraint layers can include environmental and hazard information.
  5. Switch the basemap to imagery to compare parcels with buildings and roads.

How Guam land is described

Guam's Department of Land Management (DLM) identifies land by municipality and lot. Guam has 19 municipalities (villages), each with a code, and DLM's land records system uses municipality codes running up to M19 (M19 is Tamuning), plus a historical code for Machanao. A lot designation can include tract, block and unit parts.

For example, DLM's guide shows "M05 L5072-1-1" as a search for Lot 5072-1-1 in Dededo (municipality code M05). The hyphenated numbers show how a lot has been subdivided: Lot 5072 was divided, and 5072-1 was divided again into 5072-1-1.

When you note a Guam lot, always record the municipality with the lot number. The same lot number can exist in different municipalities.
