New York City's five boroughs are each a county (Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens and Richmond), so they appear below under their county names.

If you look up land in more than one New York county, you will notice the parcel maps don't match. That is because each office chooses its own software. Below, all 62 New York entries in our directory are listed with the viewer each one uses, plus tips for the most common types.

How to search the most common viewers in New York

1. Open the official map link from the county's page; it opens in a new tab.
2. Accept any disclaimer, then look for a search box that takes street addresses, owners or parcel IDs.
3. Zoom in and click a parcel to see its details.
4. Use the map's layer controls to add aerials or other layers if they're offered.

NYS Tax Parcels Public layer in ArcGIS Map Viewer (13 entries, e.g. Greene County, Hamilton County, Lewis County)

1. From the county's Platbookmapper page, open the NYS Tax Parcels Public layer in ArcGIS Map Viewer link. It opens in a new tab.
2. Search for an address or parcel number if the viewer has a search box, or pan and zoom to the property.
3. Click a parcel to read the attributes the statewide layer carries. Field names vary from county to county.
4. Statewide layers are compiled copies, so confirm ownership, tax and deed details with the county's own assessor or recorder.

ArcGIS Web AppBuilder (7 entries, e.g. Albany County, Chautauqua County, Chemung County)

1. Click the official map link on the county's page and wait for the Web AppBuilder viewer to load. Some counties show a terms screen first.
2. Search by street address, owner or parcel ID if the search box offers those options.
3. Click a lot on the map to read its attributes.
4. Turn on aerial imagery from the basemap tool and use the layer list to add things like zoning or flood zones when they're published.

Before you rely on what you find

Online parcel lines are drawn for tax mapping, not surveys, so they can sit a few feet off the real boundary. For anything legal, such as a fence, a sale or a dispute, use the recorded deed and a licensed surveyor.
