Newfoundland Crown Land Map: Free Land Use Atlas
Newfoundland and Labrador has no all-land parcel map. Here is what the free Provincial Land Use Atlas shows about Crown titles and what it can't.
Newfoundland and Labrador works differently from most provinces. It uses a Registry of Deeds rather than a land titles system, so no single map covers all private land. The best free map is the Crown Lands atlas.
Deeds vs Crown land
- Registry of Deeds. Private land is recorded as deeds, not as titles shown on a parcel fabric.
- Crown Lands registry. The Crown Lands Division keeps a registry of land granted or leased by the Crown.
The Provincial Land Use Atlas
The free Provincial Land Use Atlas map shows Crown land titles and applications, along with municipal plans and aerial photos.
- Open the atlas map app and zoom to your area.
- Turn on the Crown titles and applications layers.
- Click a shape to see its Crown Lands title or application number.
Limits
The province says the Atlas is only an index, isn't complete, and isn't accurate enough to measure from. Many private lots won't appear on it at all. For private land, the deeds at the Registry of Deeds and a survey are what count.

Accuracy: a map is not a survey
Online parcel maps are drawn for registry, tax and planning use. Lines can be off by a few metres, sometimes more. For a fence, a setback, a building permit or a sale, check the registered plan and hire a Canadian land surveyor licensed in that province or territory.
