How to Find a Parcel Map Outside the US on Platbookmapper
How to use Platbookmapper's World pages and the map's Go to menu to reach the official parcel map for Canada, Mexico, Australia, the UK, NZ and more.
Platbookmapper started as a directory of U.S. county GIS and parcel maps. It now also covers Canada, Mexico, Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland and the U.S. territories. This guide shows how to get from our site to the right official parcel map in any of those places, in a few clicks.
Two ways in
1. The World pages
Start at Parcel maps outside the U.S.. It lists every country we cover, with the number of regions in each:
- Canada: 13 provinces and territories
- Mexico: 31 states and Mexico City
- Australia: 8 states and territories
- United Kingdom: 4 nations
- New Zealand: 16 regions
- U.S. territories: 5 territories
- Ireland: 4 provinces
Pick a country, then a region. Each region page explains how land is registered and how parcels are numbered there, then gives a green button that goes straight to the government's map viewer, if one opened without a login when we checked. Where there's no free official viewer, the page says so and has no button.
2. The homepage map
The homepage map opens on North America. To jump to another country, use the Go to menu at the top left of the map. Choose a country and the map zooms there. Click a region to open its panel, then use the green button to open the official viewer.
Each country page also has a "See [country] on our map" button that opens the homepage map already zoomed to that country.
Step by step: an example in New Zealand
Say you want to see the boundary of a property in Christchurch.
- Open the homepage map and choose New Zealand from the Go to menu.
- Click the Canterbury region. The panel opens.
- Click the green button to open Canterbury Maps, the councils' free viewer.
- Search the address in Canterbury Maps and click the property.
Or go straight to our Canterbury page and use the button there.
Step by step: an example in Australia
Say you want the lot and plan for a house in Brisbane.
- Go to Australia and click Queensland.
- Read the short guide on how Queensland parcels are numbered (lot on plan).
- Click the green button to open Queensland Globe.
- Search the address and click the parcel to get the lot on plan.
Step by step: an example in the U.S. territories
- Go to U.S. territories and choose Puerto Rico.
- Click the green button to open CRIM's Catastro Digital.
- Search or zoom to the property and click it for the número de catastro.
What the green buttons mean
Green buttons on Platbookmapper always link out to an official map, never to another page on our site. Before we add one, we check that it loads with no login. Government sites change, so if a viewer has moved or stopped working, the page may say the link is under review.
Some official services don't get a button even though they're useful, because they need a sign-in or block automated checks, such as HM Land Registry's map search in England and Wales, or landdirect.ie in Ireland (which offers a guest option). Our guides explain how to use those.
Country guides
- Australia: free boundary maps by state, lot and plan numbers
- United Kingdom: free land registry maps, ScotLIS, INSPIRE polygons
- New Zealand: free property boundaries, Record of Title
- Ireland: landdirect.ie as a guest, folio numbers
- U.S. territories: all five territories
- Canada: parcel ID types
Tips
- Use the region page first. It tells you which identifier to look for, so you know what to write down when the official viewer opens.
- Expect different languages. Mexico's and Puerto Rico's viewers are in Spanish; Quebec's is in French.
- Owners usually cost extra. Outside the U.S., owner names are usually on a paid title record, even where the map is free.
- Not a survey. Online parcel maps everywhere are for reference.
Common questions
Does Platbookmapper host the parcel maps? No. We link out to official government viewers. We don't host parcel geometry.
Why isn't my country listed? We started with the countries most searched by English-speaking users and with free official maps. More may follow.
Is there one map for every country? Yes. The homepage map covers every country we list; pick one from the Go to menu.
