Free Michigan Plat Maps Online

Michigan plat maps online are free at the county level. Use the county GIS or parcel viewer, not a single statewide lot-line map.

Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.

Free Michigan plat maps online are published by counties, not by one statewide website that draws every lot. Day-to-day property lookup still runs through the county assessor or GIS office. A statewide index can help you find an office. It does not replace that county map.

How to pull up a Michigan county map

  1. Open the Platbookmapper home page.
  2. Search the county by name, or start with Michigan and pick the county.
  3. Use "Open local GIS" to leave Platbookmapper and land on the county's own parcel viewer.

Each county picks its own software, so the buttons will not match from one county to the next. The task is the same: search the site address or the parcel number, then read the assessor record behind the parcel.

Recorded plats versus the parcel viewer

The parcel viewer shows how the county maps the tax parcel. The recorded plat is the subdivision drawing on file with the register of deeds. For a platted lot, you may want both. The viewer gets you to the parcel. The recorded plat shows how the subdivision was laid out when it was filed.

Lakes, new homes, and vacant land

Address search fails on a lot of Michigan parcels that have no situs address yet, including vacant land and some new houses. Switch to the parcel number on the tax bill, or pan the county map to the road and find the lot visually. Waterfront lines on a GIS map are especially rough. A screen line at the water is not the legal boundary.

Start at Platbookmapper, open the county, and treat every line as a planning aid until a surveyor marks the corners.
