Pulling up a parcel
Property in and around Yellowstone National Park appear on the Idaho statewide Parcels layer in ArcGIS Map Viewer, free to use and open without a login. When a rural tract has no street number, pan along the nearest road and select the outline, for land near Teton included. If the land is near Parker, the parcel card usually lists the owner of record, acreage on the tax roll, the parcel number and in many cases the last transfer.
What the zone letters mean
For a parcel near Drummond, A and V zones mark the Special Flood Hazard Area, land with a 1-percent chance of flooding in any year. If the land is near Drummond, a shaded X area marks moderate flood hazard, between the 1% and 0.2% annual chance floods; unshaded X is minimal risk.
How land is described here
Idaho follows the Public Land Survey System, so rural legal descriptions near Caribou-Targhee National Forest cite section, township and range. Each section is nominally a mile square, about 640 acres, with 36 sections to a township, though real sections near Yellowstone National Park vary in size. Copy the legal description from the record for the parcel near Wilford before you request a deed or survey.
Next door to Fremont County
Fremont County borders Clark County, Jefferson County, Madison County, Teton County, and Beaverhead County, MT, and each of those keeps its own parcel map. Acreage along the edge near Lake can be split in two county records, so check the neighboring map too. For a parcel near St. Anthony, our state page links each bordering county map for Idaho.
Low spots and local drainage
Small streams around Teton may not have detailed mapping, so walk the land after rain. Wet ground around Drummond is a separate issue from flood zones; check the National Wetlands Inventory mapper for a first look.
A quick look at the area
St. Anthony is the county seat, where most land records are kept. You'll also find Ashton, Drummond, Island Park, and Newdale. Around 14,196 people call Fremont County home (Census estimate, 2023) spread over some 1,864 square miles. Fremont County was formed in 1893, which matters when you trace an old farm's title. What the map can't tell you
Listed acreage is an estimate; only a licensed surveyor establishes the real boundary on land around Wilford. For a parcel near Yellowstone National Park, owner names and values update on a schedule, so a deed recorded last month can take weeks to appear.
Matching the zone to the lot lines
FEMA's map shows zones but not ownership, so pair it with the Idaho statewide Parcels layer in ArcGIS Map Viewer to see exactly which lot near Wilford you're looking at.
What to request from a seller
If the land is near Newdale, request about past flood claims before closing; an insurance quote early avoids surprises.
Taking the map into the field
The parcel map usually runs in a mobile browser, handy when you're parked on a road near Caribou-Targhee National Forest, so load it before you lose signal. A saved image of the lot near Wilford and its lines keeps working without signal.
Who handles what
Recorded documents for a parcel near Parker come from the County Recorder (the county clerk serves as recorder), sometimes only in person. Questions about what you can build around Teton need the planning or permitting office, and the answer depends on jurisdiction.
Insurance, lenders and building
Near Caribou-Targhee National Forest, get the Elevation Certificate if one exists: it compares the building to the BFE. New construction in a floodplain near St. Anthony can trigger elevation rules; call the permitting office early.

Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey, especially for fences, setbacks, or boundary disputes.
