How to Find a Plat from a Street Address
Start with the address in the county parcel viewer, read the legal description, and follow the plat citation it prints.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
The viewer gives you the parcel ID and often 'Lot 9, Block 1, Plat Book 22, Page 15.' That citation is the plat.
On the recorded sheet
If the legal line is metes and bounds with no book and page, the land may never have been platted. There is no subdivision plat to fetch.
The mix-up to avoid
The Platbookmapper directory is the index of those county viewers. The recorder, not the directory, stores the plat image.
Find the county map
The county GIS map is the practical place to start. Find it from the Platbookmapper directory, then treat the recorded plat and deed as the documents behind the picture.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
