How to Find a Subdivision Name
The subdivision name is the title on the recorded plat, and it is repeated in the deed's lot-and-block clause.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
The tax account often stores it in a legal-description field. The parcel viewer may show it when you click the lot. The street name of the neighborhood can differ.
On the recorded sheet
If the deed says 'Lot 4, Block B, Oak Ridge Phase 2,' the subdivision name is Oak Ridge Phase 2, not the marketing name on the entrance sign.
The mix-up to avoid
Search that name in the recorder's plat index if you need the book and page and the viewer did not print it.
Find the county map
Start at Platbookmapper, search the county, and open the local GIS link. Write down the parcel number before you compare the screen to a paper plat.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
