How to get a parcel map
You can get a parcel map for free from almost every U.S. county’s GIS site. Here’s the path — and when you actually need a different document.

Free interactive GIS
- Go to Platbookmapper.
- Pick the county → open the official viewer.
- Search, identify, print/export if offered.
PDF plat books
Still common in some counties. Good for archives; weaker for address search.
When staff ask for a “parcel map”
Clarify: GIS print, assessor sketch, or recorded plat? Those are different. Recorded plats come from the recorder; new surveys come from surveyors.
Apps
Phone “property line” apps are orientation tools. See property lines maps & apps.
Not a survey. Web parcel maps are tax and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or disputes.
