How to Match a Parcel ID to a Plat
The parcel ID is the tax account. The plat citation in that account's legal description is the bridge.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
Copy the parcel ID from the viewer, then read the legal text, not just the owner's name. Look for lot, block, and a book and page or instrument number.
On the recorded sheet
Retired parcel IDs will not open the current account. Use the ID on the current bill.
The mix-up to avoid
The ID itself is not a map coordinate. It is a key into the roll, and the roll points at the plat.
Find the county map
Start at Platbookmapper, search the county, and open the local GIS link. Write down the parcel number before you compare the screen to a paper plat.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
