How We Built a Directory of County GIS Sites for Plat Maps
Plat maps and lot-line research start with one problem: every county hides its viewer under a different URL. We compiled a directory of official GIS / parcel sites so you can find the map you want in a few clicks.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
The product decision
Early on we considered drawing parcel polygons ourselves. Hosting nationwide lot lines raises license and “is this a survey?” issues. The clearer product is a connector: a dark USA map, county selection, and an outbound link to the agency that already maintains the data.
What we collect
- Direct interactive parcel viewers (Experience Builder, Web AppViewer, Beacon AppIDs, AxisGIS, GeoPortalMaps, county OneView apps, and similar).
- County-specific paths and IDs — not one statewide hub reused for every county.
- Occasional municipal viewers (for example a city Experience app) as related links under the parent county.
We skip Google-search placeholders as “done,” search-only landings without a real map, and colliding vendor URLs that don’t actually open that county’s parcels.
How coverage grows
Listings are curated and added in batches — including a steady daily cadence of new county links — then pushed to the live directory. State hub pages mirror the same data so you can browse by state as well as from the national map.
How to use it for plat-map research
- Open platbookmapper.com.
- Search or click the county.
- Launch the official GIS viewer.
- Locate the parcel; download or note the parcel ID for deeds / plat books at the recorder.
Guides for the keywords people type: lot lines map, lot line maps, and Google Maps lot lines.
