Lot Lines Map
A lot lines map is the county parcel viewer, and it is usually free. Here is how to open the official lot lines instead of a copied overlay.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
A lot lines map shows the outlines of lots as the county draws them for taxes and identification. People also call it a lot line map, lot line maps, or a map with lot lines. Those are the same search. The drawing you want is the county assessor's parcel layer, not a redraw sold by a third-party site.
Open the official lot lines
- Go to the Platbookmapper home page and search the county.
- Open the official GIS or parcel viewer. Platbookmapper only links out. It does not draw the lots.
- Search the site address or the parcel number from the tax bill.
- If the map opens on a photo with no outlines, turn on the parcels, lots, or tax-map layer. Counties name that layer differently.
Lot line versus property line
On a subdivision lot, the lot line on the map is the line the plat used to cut one lot from the next. The assessor copies that idea into the parcel layer. It is close enough to see which lot is which, which road it fronts, and who the tax roll lists. It is not a measurement you can build a fence from. Corners in the ground are set by a survey, using the recorded plat and the deed.
Maps with lot lines that ask you to pay
If a website hides the lines behind a fee, it is probably reselling a copy of the public layer. Go back to Platbookmapper and open the county viewer. Save that county link. The next lookup is then one bookmark, not another search.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
