What Is a Block on a Plat
A block is a group of lots the plat treats as one unit, often bounded by streets.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
Lot numbers may restart in each block, which is why a deed needs both numbers. The block lines are usually the street rights of way.
On the recorded sheet
A long subdivision can have many blocks. The plat index or the title block tells you which sheet shows Block 4.
The mix-up to avoid
The mailing address block is unrelated. Block on a plat is a land-division label.
Find the county map
Open Platbookmapper and pick the county that taxes the land. Use that viewer to get the parcel ID, then match it to the recorded plat if you need the easements and lot numbers.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
