What Is a Boundary Line Agreement
A boundary line agreement is a recorded instrument in which neighbors accept a line, often where the monuments are uncertain.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
It is used when occupation and the deed do not match and the owners would rather agree than litigate. The agreement should be signed, acknowledged, and recorded.
On the recorded sheet
A new survey usually accompanies it so later buyers can find the line. It does not replace a full replat unless the jurisdiction requires one.
The mix-up to avoid
A letter between owners that was never recorded will not show up when the land is sold.
Find the county map
The county GIS map is the practical place to start. Find it from the Platbookmapper directory, then treat the recorded plat and deed as the documents behind the picture.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
