What Is a Final Plat Stamp
The recording stamp is the clerk's mark that gives the plat its book and page or instrument number and the time of filing.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
That stamp is what later deeds cite. A city approval signature is different. It shows the planning review. The clerk's stamp shows the land-records filing.
On the recorded sheet
Both can appear on the sheet. A sheet with city approval and no recording stamp may not be filed yet.
The mix-up to avoid
The stamp does not verify that the houses were built according to plan.
Find the county map
Start at Platbookmapper, search the county, and open the local GIS link. Write down the parcel number before you compare the screen to a paper plat.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
