What Is a Flag Lot
A flag lot has a narrow strip, the pole, leading to a wider building area, the flag.

Plats use flag lots to reach land behind a row of street lots. The pole is part of the lot and is the access, unless a separate easement is drawn.
On the recorded sheet
Check the pole width. Many codes set a minimum so a driveway and utilities can fit. The building area is the flag, not the pole.
The mix-up to avoid
A driveway crossing a neighbor's land is an easement, not a flag lot, unless that strip was included in the deed.
Find the county map
Search the county on the Platbookmapper home page. The directory links to the official parcel viewer. It does not draw the lots, and the line on the screen is an assessment map, not a survey.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
