What Is a Landlocked Parcel

A landlocked parcel has no recorded access to a public road.

Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.

It happens with old splits that forgot a driveway strip, and with remainders behind a new subdivision. An access easement or a private road tract is the usual cure, if a neighbor will grant it.

Once access is recorded, the lane still has to be built. AsphaltTons breaks down what a gravel driveway costs, including layer depths for a new drive.

On the recorded sheet

The parcel viewer still shows the tract and a tax bill. A bill is not access.

The mix-up to avoid

Driving across a field for years may or may not become a legal right. The recorded easement is the clean version.

Find the county map

Search the county on the Platbookmapper home page. The directory links to the official parcel viewer. It does not draw the lots, and the line on the screen is an assessment map, not a survey.
