What Is a Lot Merger
A lot merger, or combination, joins two or more lots into one tax parcel or one building site.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
Owners merge lots to build across a line or to meet a minimum area rule. The city may require an application even after you buy both lots. The tax office may still bill them separately until the roll is updated.
On the recorded sheet
The old lot lines can remain on the plat. The merger document says they no longer separate two building sites.
The mix-up to avoid
Buying the lot next door does not erase the line. The line goes away, for permit purposes, when the merger is approved and recorded.
Find the county map
The county GIS map is the practical place to start. Find it from the Platbookmapper directory, then treat the recorded plat and deed as the documents behind the picture.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
