What Is an Exempt Land Division
An exempt division is a split the local ordinance does not count as a full subdivision, such as a large-acreage cut or a transfer to an adjoining owner.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
Exempt does not mean unrecorded. You still need a deed the rule recognizes, and often a survey. It means you skip some plat hearings.
On the recorded sheet
The county's definition is the only one that matters. A seller's use of the word is not the exemption.
The mix-up to avoid
The parcel layer will show the new piece after the assessor processes the deed, exemption or not.
Find the county map
Search the county on the Platbookmapper home page. The directory links to the official parcel viewer. It does not draw the lots, and the line on the screen is an assessment map, not a survey.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
