What Lot Frontage Means on a Plat
Frontage is the length of the lot line that touches the street right of way.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
On a straight street it is one dimension. On a curve it is often the arc length. The plat prints the number. A chord measured across the curve is shorter.
On the recorded sheet
Minimum frontage rules decide whether a lot can exist or whether a driveway is allowed. The right-of-way line, not the edge of pavement, is the front.
The mix-up to avoid
A corner lot has two frontages. Each street gets its own length.
Find the county map
Open Platbookmapper and pick the county that taxes the land. Use that viewer to get the parcel ID, then match it to the recorded plat if you need the easements and lot numbers.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
