Why Listing-Site Lot Lines Can Be Wrong
Listing sites decorate an aerial with lines they license from a data vendor. That vendor is not the county recorder.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
The lines can lag a split, drop an easement, or shift where the photo is off. They are a shopping aid.
On the recorded sheet
The county parcel viewer is closer to the tax roll. The recorded plat is the lot pattern. The listing overlay is neither.
The mix-up to avoid
Do not negotiate a boundary from a real-estate thumbnail.
Find the county map
Search the county on the Platbookmapper home page. The directory links to the official parcel viewer. It does not draw the lots, and the line on the screen is an assessment map, not a survey.
Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey.
