Anoka County stretches from inner-ring suburbs north of Minneapolis to lakes, bogs and sod farms. The Anoka County Parcel Viewer maps every parcel from the Mississippi to the Carlos Avery marshes.
The Anoka County Parcel Viewer
Anoka County built its viewer on Esri’s web platform. Its welcome text includes a disclaimer tied to a Minnesota statute on government data liability: the information is for reference only, the county does not guarantee accuracy, and users agree to hold the county harmless. Click OK to open the map, which has a search box and an attribute table.
Click a parcel for its PIN, owner, address and property details. The viewer is linked from Anoka in our Minnesota directory, and the county is north of the Twin Cities on our clickable national map.
PINs and property records
Minnesota counties use a parcel identification number, often built from section, township and range. Search by PIN, address or owner. Once you have the PIN, the county’s property records show values, taxes and classification. Tips:
- Homestead status appears on the tax record and affects the bill.
- Open the attribute table to list results when a search returns several parcels.
- New subdivisions in Ramsey and Andover may show as unsplit land until the next update.
How to find property lines in Anoka County
Suburban lots follow plats, while rural land follows the section grid.
- Get the legal description from the property record.
- Find out whether the parcel is abstract or Torrens, since that decides where records are kept.
- Order the deed and plat from the county’s property records office.
- Hire a Minnesota licensed land surveyor for fences, docks or disputes.
Abstract and Torrens property
Minnesota has two land title systems. Abstract property relies on the chain of recorded documents, while Torrens property has a court-registered certificate of title. A significant share of Anoka County parcels are Torrens, and boundaries on Torrens land may be fixed by court proceedings. Knowing which system applies helps you find the right documents.
Lakes, the Rum River and wetlands
Coon Lake, Linwood Lake, Crooked Lake and the Rum River draw buyers, and Minnesota’s shoreland rules limit building and clearing near the water. Lake lots generally end at the ordinary high water level, with the state controlling the lakebed on public waters. Wetlands cover much of the northern county, so check the flood and wetland layers; see flood layers explained.
Cities and the northern growth
Blaine, Coon Rapids and Andover are among the larger suburbs, while Ham Lake, East Bethel and Oak Grove remain semi-rural. Almost all of the county lies inside city limits, so zoning questions usually go to city hall rather than the county.
Anoka County plat book
Plat books remain popular in rural Minnesota, yet a suburban county like Anoka has largely outgrown them, and we could not confirm a current edition. Subdivision plats at the county recorder and the free viewer do the job instead.
Acreage and hunting land
Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area, shared with Chisago County, offers public hunting. Private acreage in the north shows owner and size on click. Minnesota DNR sets seasons, and cities may restrict firearms.
Special assessments and tax notices
Minnesota cities often pay for street reconstruction, sewer and water mains by levying special assessments on the benefiting properties. An assessment can run thousands of dollars and be spread over years on the tax bill. Before buying in Blaine, Coon Rapids or any Anoka County city, ask for a pending and levied assessment search, since future street projects may already be approved.
Each November, owners receive a proposed tax notice showing next year’s estimated tax and the dates of truth-in-taxation meetings. Values come from the city or county assessor, and owners can appeal through open book or board of appeal meetings in spring. Owner-occupants should confirm homestead classification with the county, which lowers the tax.
Newer subdivisions in Ramsey, Andover and Lino Lakes may also include storm-water ponds and drainage easements that limit where fences, sheds and pools can go. Check the plat for those easements before planning improvements. Watershed districts such as Coon Creek and Rice Creek also review some projects, especially near wetlands and ditches. A quick call to the city engineer can save a costly redesign, and it costs nothing to ask.
Is the Anoka County GIS map accurate?
The county says the information is for reference only. Suburban plats fit well; rural and wetland areas can drift. A survey is the answer for any boundary; see county GIS and surveys.
Parcel Viewer not loading?
Nothing draws until you acknowledge the opening notice, so look for that button first; a blank screen after that usually clears with a refresh or an emptied cache. For Minneapolis, see our Hennepin County guide, or open the Minnesota county GIS hub.

Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or boundary disputes.
