Boone County is Northern Kentucky’s fastest-changing ground, with the region’s airport, warehouse corridors and new subdivisions pushing into farm country. The Boone County PVA Public Map tracks each parcel as it changes hands.
The PVA Public Map
The map is a joint product of the Boone County Property Valuation Administrator and the GIS Services Division of the Boone County Planning Commission. Its splash screen says the data is believed accurate but comes with no warranty on completeness or suitability, and that neither office accepts liability for its use. You can check a box to stop the splash from appearing on later visits.
After you close the notice, a search box and attribute table let you look up parcels and open their PVA records. The map sits on our Kentucky directory under Boone, and the county is in the state’s northern tip on our U.S. county map.
PVA records and parcel IDs
In Kentucky, the Property Valuation Administrator assesses property and the sheriff collects taxes. Search the map by address, owner or parcel ID, then read the PVA record for assessed value, sales and building details. Useful tips:
- New homes in subdivisions around Union and Walton may show as lots until the next assessment year.
- Open the attribute table to see results in a list, handy when a search returns several parcels.
- Farm parcels may be split among several accounts; search the owner name to see the full holding.
How to find property lines in Boone County
Kentucky was never surveyed on the federal township grid, so rural land is described by metes and bounds.
- Find the deed book and page on the PVA record.
- Obtain the deed and any subdivision plat from the Boone County Clerk in Burlington.
- Match the plat’s bearings and distances to the map outline, then look for iron pins at the corners.
- For fences or additions, hire a Kentucky licensed professional land surveyor.
CVG, logistics and land use
Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport sits in Hebron, and cargo operations have drawn large warehouses and distribution centers. Parcels near the airport can face noise overlays and industrial zoning nearby. The Planning Commission handles zoning for most of the county, including several cities, so check the zoning layer and call planning staff before buying near the airport or an interchange.
Ohio River bottoms and floodplain
The county’s western and northern edges follow the Ohio River, with bottomland around Petersburg, Belleview and Rabbit Hash. Much of it lies in the floodplain, and river levels rise sharply in wet years. Check the flood layer and read flood zones in parcel viewers before buying riverfront land.
Big Bone Lick and rural Boone
South and west of the airport, the county turns rural, with horse farms, tobacco barns and Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, famous for Ice Age fossils. Older farmhouses may sit on tracts described by deeds dating back more than a century, where corners are marked by stones or trees that have long since vanished.
Boone County, Kentucky plat book
Our research did not find a current printed atlas. Recorded plats at the County Clerk are official, and the PVA map shows ownership for free.
Acreage and hunting permission
Rural tracts in the Hamilton, Verona and Beaverlick areas show acreage and owner on click, which helps when you want permission to hunt. Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources sets seasons and manages public areas.
Homestead exemption and appeals
Kentucky offers a homestead exemption to owners who are 65 or older or totally disabled, with the exempt amount adjusted every two years for inflation. Apply through the Boone County PVA. Values are set as of January 1, and during the annual inspection period owners can review their assessment and, if they disagree, confer with the PVA and then appeal to the local board of assessment appeals.
Many newer homes in Union and Burlington sit in subdivisions with homeowner associations and covenants. Read those documents before planning a fence, shed or pool. Older farms near Big Bone and Rabbit Hash, by contrast, usually carry no association at all, just county zoning and the deed. That contrast shapes what you can do with a lot, from keeping chickens to adding a detached garage.
Is the Boone County GIS map accurate?
The PVA and Planning Commission say the data is believed accurate but not guaranteed. Metes-and-bounds tracts drawn from old deeds can be off, while recent subdivision plats usually fit well. A survey is the only boundary answer; see tax maps versus surveys.
PVA map not loading?
Close the splash screen, then reload if the map stays blank. Clearing the cache or trying another browser usually helps. For south-central Kentucky, see our Warren County guide, or go to the Kentucky GIS county page.

Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or boundary disputes.
