California plat maps are recorded locally, county by county or town by town. The state index is the way to find the right office.

The search
People type "California Plat Maps" when they want one map for the whole state. California plat maps are county recorder records. A city search still has to land on the right county.
Where the sheet is kept
There is no single statewide plat book that replaces the local recording. A subdivision plat is filed where that state's land records are kept. The public parcel layer on a county or state viewer is an assessment map.
Open the directory
Start at the California page on Platbookmapper. Pick the county, parish, borough, or independent city named in the deed. Then open the official viewer linked there when one is listed.
What the search will not do
A state plat-map search will not draw your lot line, and it will not turn a tax map into a survey. Use the recorded plat for the subdivision, and a licensed surveyor when the boundary is the question.
