GIS parcel viewer: search property lots and parcel boundaries
A GIS parcel viewer is the public web app counties publish so you can search property lots and inspect parcel boundaries without a courthouse trip. Brands differ — Beacon, qPublic, ArcGIS Experience, “Public Viewer” — the job is the same.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
Inside a typical parcel viewer
Expect a basemap, parcel outlines, a search box, and an identify pop-up. Some stacks add owner name (where published), building sketches, or sales history. Others keep attributes thin and push you to the assessor portal for tables.
Searching property lots
Try situs address first, then parcel number from a tax bill. Owner search is hit-or-miss and sometimes paywalled. For vacant land without a clean street number, pan to the section and click polygons until the ID matches what you expect.
Reading parcel boundaries
Lot lines sharpen as you zoom. Shared walls in downtown grids and meandering rural lines both appear as tax fabric — compare carefully against recorded subdivision plats when stakes matter.

Use Platbookmapper to jump to the official local GIS for the county you need, then bookmark that URL. Avoid random “parcel apps” that scrape stale copies.
Not a survey. Web parcel maps are tax and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or disputes.
