How to find a parcel number on a map
The parcel number (APN, PIN, serial, tax ID) is the join key between maps and money. Here’s how to pull it from a county parcel map every time.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
Steps
- Open your county on Platbookmapper.
- Launch the official GIS viewer.
- Search by address (or zoom and click).
- Open the parcel popup/sidebar.
- Copy the parcel # / APN / PIN / serial field.
- Paste into assessor or treasurer search.
When search fails
- Try alternate city names or spellings.
- Click the lot on imagery.
- New splits may still show a parent parcel — ask the assessor.
Google Maps note
Google won’t hand you an official county APN. Details in parcel numbers on Google Maps.
Not a survey. Web parcel maps are tax and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or disputes.
