Mohave County is enormous, stretching from the Colorado River towns to the Arizona Strip north of the Grand Canyon. The Mohave County Public Map Viewer covers river lots, desert acreage and federal land across that whole span.
Inside the Public Map Viewer
The county’s viewer is built on Geocortex, with a side panel for search and an “I want to…” menu. The search box takes a property ID, owner, address, street name or intersection. Tools cover bookmarks, print, export, share, point and distance measurement, drawing and a parcel query.
The layer list is deep. The Parcels group alone holds tax parcels and site addresses, the latest sale plus a sales history, the Assessor’s tax map books, blocks and lots, tax area codes, and the recorded distance and bearing along each parcel line. Other groups cover planning and zoning for the county, Kingman and Bullhead City, flood control district data, the public land survey system, BLM land ownership, General Land Office records by township and range, topography and recent orthoimagery. The viewer is listed on the Mohave County row of our Arizona directory, and our all-county map reaches it too.
Assessor parcel numbers
Arizona counties use an assessor parcel number split into book, map and parcel. Search the property ID box with the full number, or use the owner search with last name first. Tips for Mohave:
- Many desert lots were sold decades ago to distant buyers, so owners may live out of state and parcels may be tax-defaulted.
- Use the Tax Map Books layer to see the official book and map sheet for an area.
- The Last Sale layer quickly shows which lots have changed hands recently.
How to find property lines in Mohave County
The viewer’s recorded bearing and distance labels make it more useful than most for a first look at a lot.
- Turn on Recorded Distance and Recorded Bearing to read the plat dimensions right on the map.
- Obtain the recorded plat or survey and deed from the Mohave County Recorder in Kingman.
- Find the corner markers, often capped rebar, which may be hard to spot in open desert.
- Hire an Arizona registered land surveyor before fencing, building or buying raw land.
Desert subdivisions and raw land
Golden Valley, Meadview, Dolan Springs and other areas contain large subdivisions platted in the mid-1900s, with many lots still vacant and some without legal road access, water or power. The viewer’s roads and right-of-way layers help, but a lot that looks connected on a plat may have only a dirt track or nothing at all. Check water availability, since Arizona’s rules on wells and hauled water vary by area.
BLM, state trust land and the Arizona Strip
Most of Mohave County is public land managed by the BLM, the National Park Service or tribes, and some is Arizona State Trust land, which can be leased or sold at auction but is not open like federal land. The Land Ownership layer, dated early 2024 from the BLM, shows who manages each area. North of the Grand Canyon, the Arizona Strip is remote country reached mostly through Utah.
The Colorado River towns
Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and Fort Mohave line the Colorado River, with Lake Mead and Lake Mohave upstream. River frontage is valuable, and flood control and federal lands affect what is buildable near the water. The flood control layers and our note on FEMA zones in county viewers are good starting points.
Mohave County plat book
For a county the size of several eastern states, a bound atlas would be enormous, and none is in print as far as we can tell. The viewer’s layer of Assessor map sheets comes close to one, and subdivision plats at the Recorder in Kingman remain the legal record.
Acreage and hunting ground
Much of the hunting here happens on public land, so the ownership layer is key for staying legal. For private ranch parcels, click to see acreage and owner. Arizona Game and Fish sets seasons and draws.
Buying a lot sight unseen
Cheap Mohave County lots are often sold online. Confirm the seller’s ownership in the Recorder’s index, look at the parcel in the viewer, and use a title company, because deed fraud does occur. Drive out if you can; a lot that looks flat on the map may sit in a wash that floods during monsoon storms.
Is the Mohave County GIS map accurate?
The recorded bearing and distance labels come from plats, but the lines themselves are still fitted to imagery and can be off, especially in remote desert. Use a survey for any boundary decision; see tax maps and surveys compared.
Viewer not loading?
Geocortex viewers can be slow with many layers on. Zoom in, since some layers gray out at wide scales, and reload if the side panel is empty. For central Arizona, see our Yavapai County guide, or open the Arizona county GIS hub.

Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or boundary disputes.
