Online parcel maps: search property boundaries by address
Most people start an online parcel map with a street address. When the search box cooperates, you jump straight to the polygon. When it does not, a few GIS habits usually recover the lot in under a minute.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
Address-first search
Enter house number and street; skip unit letters unless the county indexes them. Try both “Road” and “Rd,” and watch for renamed county roads. Autocomplete helps when the county wired it up.
When address search fails
Rural routes, brand-new plats, and vacant land without a situs number break many geocoders. Zoom to the neighborhood on aerials and click parcels, or search by owner / parcel ID from a tax bill.
Multi-unit and commercial sites
Apartments and strip centers may share a parent parcel or show condo unit polygons. Read the pop-up carefully before assuming the yellow outline is the unit you lease.
Pick the county first
Address search only works inside the correct county viewer. Use Platbookmapper if you are unsure which county taxes the property.
Not a survey. Web parcel maps are tax and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or disputes.
