Pierce County Property Parcel Search by Address: ATIP and the PublicGIS Parcel Viewer
A Pierce County property parcel search by address works, but it pays to know the format. The county’s Assessor-Treasurer Information Portal (ATIP) and the PublicGIS parcel viewer both take an address, and the county itself says the parcel number is the most reliable way in. This guide shows how to get from an address to a parcel number in a few steps.

How ATIP wants an address
ATIP has one search box labeled “Parcel # or Address,” and its hints spell out the format:
- Address: the house number plus one word of the street name. For 930 Tacoma Ave S, type
930 Tacoma. - Parcel: 6 to 10 digits.
- Block: the block number plus “00” (for example 2400) and one word of the street name. This lists the parcels on that block.
Keeping the street to a single word avoids problems with suffixes, directionals and abbreviations. ATIP also has a Sales Search.
Searching by address in the PublicGIS parcel viewer
PublicGIS is Pierce County’s interactive map. When we typed an address, it offered address search suggestions with ZIP codes. Pick the right one and the map zooms to the parcel. A dropdown lets you change the search source, and layer groups let you add more county data to the map. The county’s disclaimer says map features are approximate and not surveyed.
Why the parcel number beats the address
The county’s parcel and property information page puts it plainly: the parcel number is the best way to look up information, and not every county site allows address search. Use the address once to find the parcel number, then use that number in every other tool.
Addressing also varies by location. Pierce County assigns addresses only in unincorporated areas, and cities assign their own. If an address is missing or wrong, the county’s addressing contact is 253-798-3684. Inside a city, contact that city.
Other Pierce County parcel tools that take a parcel number
The county’s parcel and property information page gathers the tools you will want next:
- About my Property (PALS), from Planning & Public Works, for zoning and environmental constraints.
- Recorded document search at the Auditor’s office.
- Survey monument information and the PublicGIS map.
The Assessor-Treasurer is at 2401 South 35th St, Room 142, in Tacoma; (253) 798-6111.

If the Pierce County parcel viewer is down
ATIP and PublicGIS are separate systems, so try one if the other is slow. If your address search fails in both, the address may be new or assigned by a city, so try the block search in ATIP. Our directory entry is at Pierce County in our Washington directory.
More Washington parcel viewers
Platbookmapper keeps a free, county-by-county directory of official parcel viewers and county GIS maps across the United States. Neighboring Kitsap County is covered too. If you research land in more than one county, start at the all-states directory or pick a county on the national parcel map, and you will land on the official viewer instead of a data-broker copy.

Not a survey. County GIS and tax parcel maps are assessment and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or boundary disputes.
