Parcel mapping GIS: find property lots and boundaries
Parcel mapping GIS is the back-office system counties use to maintain tax lot geometry. The public-facing viewer is just one export of that work — the same database feeds assessment rolls, 911 addressing, and planning maps.
Platbookmapper is an Amazon Associate. If you buy through an Amazon link on this page, we earn a commission. The link is a product, not the county map.
How parcel mapping works
GIS technicians edit polygons when deeds split or combine lots, annexations move city limits, or road right-of-way changes. Attributes (owner of record where published, land use codes, assessed values) join to those shapes.
Finding property lots
Citizens rarely edit the fabric — they consume it. Search the public viewer, then use the parcel ID in treasurer or recorder tools. Surveyors and title plants work from recorded documents first, GIS second.
Boundaries vs occupation
A hedge or fence may not match the tax line. GIS boundaries approximate the legal description for inventory; occupation lines are a field and survey question.
Nationwide starting point
Platbookmapper indexes county GIS entry points so you spend less time guessing URLs and more time reading the map for the lot you care about.
Not a survey. Web parcel maps are tax and planning layers. They are not a substitute for a recorded plat, deed, or licensed survey — especially for fences, setbacks, or disputes.
