How it works in Switzerland

In Switzerland the cantons run the official cadastral survey, and the federal map site map.geo.admin.ch combines all 26 into one free cadastral map (the CadastralWebMap). Each parcel has a number within its municipality and a national identifier, the E-GRID. Ownership is kept in cantonal land registers. Many cantons publish the owner's name on request or online, but the rules differ from canton to canton.

A note on accuracy

Online parcel and cadastral maps are for reference only. They are not a survey or a title search. Before you buy land or settle a boundary question, order the official title record from the land registry named on this page and get a licensed surveyor or notary to check it.
